1834 - 1839
In the quietude of the Joseon Era, young Soo emerged into a world tainted by the loveless union of her ambitious father and gentle mother. The air was thick with tension as her mother, a paragon of kindness, bestowed upon her a name that whispered of serenity amidst discord. Soo's fair skin, almost ethereal in its paleness, bore a stark contrast to the jet-black tresses that intertwined with the legacy of her austere father.
The household, a fragile construct built on ambition and disparity, crumbled beneath the weight of the father's relentless commands. He, an ambitious man, treated Soo's mother as a servant, issuing orders with a heart untouched by compassion. Their dwelling echoed with the strains of arguments, a dissonant melody witnessed by young Soo at the tender age of five.
Haunted by the specter of discord, Soo's mother, the embodiment of kindness, chose to depart, leaving Soo to bear witness to a void where love once dwelled. As the absence of maternal warmth enveloped her, the father turned his demanding gaze upon the innocent Soo, relegating her to the role of a household servant. The weight of chores became shackles, chaining her to a life where obedience was the only currency.
Failure to meet her father's exacting standards ushered in a harsh reality for Soo. The echoes of her mother's departure were replaced by the stinging resonance of physical punishment. The walls bore silent witness to a young girl's metamorphosis, as innocence bled away, replaced by the indelible scars of brutality. Alexithymia, a silent companion born from the crucible of pain, wrapped itself around Soo's emotions, leaving her adrift in a sea of unspoken sorrows.
Thus, within the tapestry of the Joseon Era, Soo's life unfolded, a poignant narrative woven with threads of love forsaken, innocence lost, and the silent struggle against the shadows of a fractured family.
1849 - 1852
The age of 15, amidst the serenity of the woods, where Soo sought solace in the gathering of timber, the subtle rustle of leaves revealed the clandestine presence of the unseen assassin. Startled but composed, Soo confronted the mysterious figure, her gaze unwavering as she inquired about their purpose.
Before the assassin divulged their intentions, Soo recoiled at the notion of becoming one of them. The shadows of her past still clung to her, and the prospect of embracing a life steeped in darkness did not resonate with the shattered fragments of her innocence. She firmly declined, her resolve unwavering.
Undeterred, the persuasive assassin, cloaked in the mystique of their trade, attempted to entice Soo with promises of wealth. Yet, the allure of riches failed to sway her, for the scars etched upon her soul were not to be mended by material gain. Silent and resolute, Soo turned away, distancing herself from the veiled proposition that sought to tether her to a world of shadows.
At the age of 18, the dire straits of financial turmoil, Soo's mother faced the looming specter of insurmountable taxes. Faced with the harsh reality that threatened to consume them, she hesitated to burden her daughter with the weight of their fiscal woes. However, as the abyss of debt beckoned, Soo, driven by a desperate desire to alleviate her mother's suffering, clandestinely sought out the enigmatic assassin.
In the shadows, away from the prying eyes of their world, Soo and the assassin engaged in a somber dialogue. The air hung heavy with unspoken truths as Soo, now willing to entertain the path she had previously shunned, reconsidered the offer that promised both liberation and moral compromise.
Their conversation delved into the intricacies of a life veiled in secrecy and danger. The assassin, draped in the cloak of their enigma, unveiled the nuances of their trade, offering Soo glimpses into a world where shadows danced with treacherous grace. The allure of wealth echoed in the clandestine whispers, and, in the face of her mother's impending despair, Soo reluctantly acquiesced to the pact that bound her fate to the clandestine realm.
1841 - 1844
At the tender age of seven, Soo's world shifted once again when her estranged mother returned. The reunion, however, bore witness to a metamorphosis in Soo – the once cheerful girl had become a vessel devoid of emotion. Her mother, recognizing the profound change in her daughter, liberated Soo from the oppressive clutches of her father and sought refuge in a new home where the echoes of their shared pain could fade.
In this sanctuary, Soo, now a mere whisper of her former self, adhered to the haunting dictate instilled by her father – she spoke only when prompted, her voice a scarce commodity reserved for necessity. Together with her mother, she silently embraced the routines of domesticity, finding solace in the quietude that enveloped their secluded haven.
As the years unfolded, Soo, at the age of ten, found herself ensnared in the clutches of her past. The specter of her father, fueled by rage and resentment, discovered their sanctuary, shattering the fragile peace they had built. In the ensuing turmoil, he unleashed his wrath upon Soo's mother, the very source of his former disdain.
Faced with the malevolence that had scarred her childhood, Soo's muted existence erupted in a visceral act of self-preservation. Devoid of remorse, she confronted the source of her torment, severing the oppressive tie that bound them. The lifeless body of her father crumpled beneath the weight of retribution, the darkness of his influence extinguished.
Yet, in the shadows, an unseen observer, an assassin, recognized the latent potential within Soo. Drawn to her resilience and the unbridled force that fueled her actions, they began to follow the enigmatic girl, weaving a clandestine thread into the fabric of her destiny. The echoes of Soo's past, now intertwined with the clandestine presence that shadowed her, foretold a journey marked by the convergence of redemption and retribution.
1852 - 1869
In the hushed corridors of initiation, Soo underwent the pivotal test that would mold her identity within the clandestine fraternity of assassins. The outcome bestowed upon her a name that echoed with the essence of her lethal prowess—'Bimyeong,' the embodiment of silence and the antithesis of her former self.
Curious and contemplative, Soo queried the significance of her new alias, and in response, the seasoned assassins clarified the clandestine art she was to embody. "Bimyeong," they explained, signifying "Scream" in the silent depths of their covert language. It encapsulated her ability to extinguish lives with an eerie absence of noise, a skill that mirrored the stealth of the wind itself.
She takes out without thinking, only obliging on what has given to her by her superiors. This made the other assassins amazed by her stoic expression as well as her will to serve amongst the shadow. She deserved the right to call her by her alias and Soo never think twice on obtaining the right of being an assassin.
As the weight of her newfound identity settled upon her, Soo embraced the paradoxical nature of her alias—a name that spoke volumes in its hushed resonance. Bimyeong, now a whisper on the lips of shadows, embarked on a journey where her every move was choreographed to the silent rhythm of her deadly dance.
As time goes on, Soo had became more and more proficient in her job on taking out her targets thanks to the guidance of her superiors. They had truly molded Soo into becoming a dangerous force of the assassins and the one who never think twice when taking out their targets. However, Soo only had one condition during her training to become one of them is to not to lay a hand on her mother not even tell what Soo has been doing. Soo never wanted her mother to know what she really been doing every night.
By the age of 20, her mother spoke to Soo, never she had a proper family name for her as their father's name is not the best to put a name on Soo. Her mother gave her a name, Na. Soo thought it was her mother's family name even though it was never her name to begin with. It is a family name of the man whom she had affairs with but the mother never told her.
1869 - onwards
Throughout her life as an assassin, Soo has been hiding in plain sight, listening to whispers and rumors of Hanseong to see where her mission will lead her. As she was carrying out in a mission, her mentor gave her a special task. The late Duke of Cha family is in need of someone within their ranks. The mentor spoke with Soo and she accepted it quickly.
To cover her identity, the duke gave her the position of right hand man so whenever he needed something to take care of and Soo will be in his command. As cunning as he was, he had deceived Soo, who was working for justice and good cause to take care of the people who knew of the tragedy in Tamna.
As time goes by, one of her victims had told her that she has been used by the duke to cover up his sins. Soo, driven by curiosity and grudge, she searched his chamber to reveal what he really did in Tamna.
And that she decided to end her own employer's life by poisoning him and considered as death by sleep. However, Soo already had a growing feeling with the late duke's son, whom he treated soo as his younger sister.
After the funeral, the son had relieved Soo from her duties and she goes back into her assassin ways. However, Soo never left, she stayed and kept an eye on him even though it is hurting Soo inside seeing him with other women.
When the son announces his engagement with someone else, this drove Soo to the point of betrayal. She conspired with the groups of people who are against the Cha family and planned to kidnap him.
She betrayed him for he betrayed her feelings, but she was still confused. Soo had saved him countless of times but he never noticed her efforts she did, drenched herself in the blood of his enemies but not even a single glance he never did.
Soo then scarred him before she turned down the contract between the enemies of him and saved his life. Once they are safe from the pursuers, Soo left him as the reinforcements came. She burst into tears as she walked back to the darkness of the night.
When she reported the news towards her mentor, he was disappointed. She let the head of the corrupt family run free, but Soo testified that he is innocent. However, her saving him would be the downfall of her assassin life.
Her mentor had stripped off her title as the master assassin and gave her a death sentence. But Soo, for the first time, she refused to let them decide what is best for her life. She resisted and fought her once fellow assassins.
She ran away, away from the brotherhood. She went into hiding and even cuts her own hair, severing her ties from her brotherhood and the one she once loved. She starts changing how she looks to cover up and to hide from the pursuers. She was no longer named Bimyeong, she decided to use her name as Soo.
She found a work in Bo-An Detective Agency where she do detective works along with Hakkun, the owner of the agency and also to help those who are in need of Justice without shedding blood.
